Goldman lens

Examination with a Goldman lens is performed for detailed inspection of the retina and internal ocular structures (where no fundus changes are found, this is carried out once only).

Pupil dilation is required for this examination and will persist for 3-4 hours. Preparation for the examination takes 20-30 minutes; the examination itself takes between 15 and 30 minutes.
It is generally recommended for children aged seven and over.
